This part is listed by BMW as BMW part number 51717896408 (51 71 7 896 408) and is described as Genuine BMW Front Right Brake Air Duct, for M Aerodynamics / M Sport front bumper on the 2-door Coupe and Convertible E46 3 series with the M Sport / ZHP / M-Tech2 front bumper. This air duct is used as a brake cooling duct on these models. Cars with this bumper have option code S716A on their build sheet, or they were later retrofitted with the M Sport / ZHP style front bumper. 

This duct is for Facelift / 2004-2006 model 2 door coupe or convertible models ONLY, and only for use with the M Sport / M-Tech2 / ZHP style front bumper. The facelift coupe / convertible models were model years 2004, 2005, and 2006. Not for cars before these years.
