Hood Shock, Meyle - E82 E88 - 128i 135i 135is 1M

This Hood Shock is made for the BMW 1 series from 2008 through 2013. It's made by Meyle, a German with a long history and experience in European parts. 

This Hood Shock fits E82 1-Series Coupe and E88 1-Series Convertible (128i, 135i, 135is, 1M) - Model Years 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2013. BMW lists the original version of this part as BMW part number 51237118370 and is describes it as Hood Shock, 350N, with 350N being the amount of gas pressure the hood strut is cailbrated to. 

Fits Left or Right side. 

Sold Individually. Be sure to order two if you are replacing both hood shocks at the same time. 

This E82/E88 hood shock is a gas shock to replace the tired shocks that no longer hold up your hood, or prevent it from dropping on your head. It's pressure calibrated for the specific weight of the hood, so that it provides the factory designed amount of assist when opening and closing your hood. This part is also known as a hood strut, and acts to both reduce the weight of the hood when opening, as well as dampen the force when closing your hood. 

If your hood is not staying open, requiring an extra hand to hold it up, or it's slamming shut with much too much force, it's probably time for a pair of new hood shocks to correct the issue.
