Right Gas Pressurized Spring - 51248149328 - E34 Wagon

This part is listed by BMW as BMW part number 51248149328 (51-24-8-149-328) and is described as Right Gas Pressurized Spring for rear trunk lid on E34 525i and 530i wagon (1991, 1992. 1993, 1994, 1995). 

This is the gas pressurized shock/strut/damper that supports and assists with the lifting of the rear hatch / trunk on the E34 5 Series Touring Wagon models. If your rear hatch will no longer stand open on its own, or closes too forcefully, it's likely that either one or both of your rear hatch shocks has failed. Once the gas pressure leaks out, these rear trunk struts won't hold weight as designed, causing your E34 Touring Wagon's rear hatch to get heavy, close on its on, or slam shut. 

This is one RIGHT side rear lift gate strut, which is the passenger side on US / left hand drive models.
