StopTech CBK is built for ultra light weight and minimal "creature comforts". This is best used on dedicated track or race cars that have been significantly lightened and don't need an oversize and heavier Big Brake Kit. The 309mm rotor fits under 16" wheels (see below for wheel fitment diagram).
StopTech's "C43" caliper is the result of years of R&D in road and circle-track racing. The C43 caliper is a 4-piston layout, forged from aluminum, sized and machined to minimize weight. The C43 is 50% lighter
than a ST40 caliper and even lighter than the Trophy kit! Stainless steel piston noses and anti-knockback springs are optional. The center bridge is replaced by a single bridge bolt to save weight and reduce pad change times. C43 calipers do not include dust boots so this is not suggested for regular street use. Only available with a dark grey military-spec hard anodize and simple StopTech logo. Pads are a standard shape shared with some AP and Wilwood calipers (Hawk HB521 and PFC 7751).
Rotors in the Race kit are 309x32mm and use the new bi-directional slotting design. Caliper hats are black anodized. The rotors use StopTech's pillar vane construction that is lighter and cools better than traditional straight or curved vane designs. The pillar design uses aerodynamically-shaped posts inside the rotor, rather than continuous channels. This exposes more surface area of the vane for better cooling. Race CBK kits do not come with anti-rattle hardware but do have a floating system that reduces pad knockback.
This kit is focused on one thing - pounding the racetrack in a dual-purpose car. Originally designed for a specific road-racing series, with R&D input from BimmerWorld, StopTech has made this caliper design available in limited production runs through BimmerWorld. The CBK kits surpass the Trophy kits in lightness and compact size. C43 calipers do not use dust boots on the caliper pistons and are only sold for racing or exclusive track activity only. Caliper dust boots play a key role in preventing debris from damaging the inner piston seals and causing a very dangerous loss in brake pressure. As with any racing braking system, periodic rebuilds and regular fluid changes using an appropriate fluid are strongly advised.
C43 calipers are only available in dark-grey military-spec hardcoat.
