This is the smaller of the 2 coolant expansion tanks used in the engine compartment on G01/F97 X3 30i, M40i X3M (2018+), G02/F98 X4 30i, M40i, X4M (2019+), G05 X5 40i, M60i (2019+), G06 X6 40i, M50i (2019+), G07 X7 40i, M60i (2019+), and G09 XM, XM 50e, XM (2024+). This coolant reservoir is for the dedicated cooling circuit for the intake charge air cooler and the alternator/48V battery system.

The cap is sold separately - see Related Items below. The cap also doubles as a pressure regulator so replacing the cap every few years is good for overall system performance and reliability.
