Radiator, BMW - E82 128i SULEV, E9X 328i SULEV

This is the Genuine BMW radiator for SULEV E82 128i and E90/E92 328i models. SULEV is the Super Ultra Low Emissions Vehicle status used in California, New York, Massachusetts, and some other states. The Genuine BMW radiator includes a special coating that converts ozone into oxygen. This coating helped BMW with California emissions certification and the coating is required for all replacement SULEV radiators. The radiator actually has a compliance sensor fused to the back of the radiator to ensure the coating is applied and active, as well as feeding coolant temperature information to the engine computer. A new sensor is included on this radiator. Using a non-SULEV radiator without the coating will trigger a fault code and check engine light. Unfortunately, the sensor is not available separately from BMW and is not easily removed without damaging it.

The good news is that a failure in the radiator or the sensor may be covered under the vehicle's emissions warranty. Before committing to a new radiator, check with BMW or your dealer if you're covered. If your radiator is no longer covered by the warranty we have the new Genuine BMW replacement at a substantial savings from list price and it comes with a factory two year warranty.

A new drain plug (control sleeve) is not included with the radiator and is sold separately (see below).
