This shifter lever can also be used as a thrifty "short shift kit" for the older 3 series including E21 and E30 318i/325e/325i from 1987-1992. It installs in place of your factory shift lever with the same hardware, but reduces the length of the shifter for a reduced throw (travel) between shifts.
