Genuine BMW Auto Transmission Inspection Plug / Cover Cap - 24001422960

This part is listed by BMW as BMW part number 24001422960 (24 00 1 422 960) and is described as Genuine BMW Cap. It is a small rubber flap used to cover an inspection port at the bottom / base of the bell housing of some BMW transmissions. 

Missing one of these? This inspection hole this cap covers allows visual inspection of the flywheel. However this inspection hole plug often gets lost or missing, which leaves a hole open to the elements (water, dirt, road debris, salt, etc) so if your BMW is missing this inspection port cap, we recommend buying a replacement and installing it. 

This cap/plug was first used in 1998, starting with the E39 540i and E38 740i/740iL V8, which used the A5S 390R automatic transmission. It has since been used on the newer V8 automatics found in many F & G chassis models, particularly those with the "50i" drivetrains, and a few variations of it.
