This is an alternative to the factory CSL SMG fluid tank (BMW part #21532282549) and is made from a more durable aluminum. The CSL re-located the SMG fluid tank to the driver's side strut tower. That CSL tank (and bracket) are available for an OE factory appearance with your CSL air box. But for more serious SMG relocation or a more durable and robust upgrade this aluminum SMG reservoir is a great option.
This works best as part of a relocation kit such as placing the pump and reservoir on the right side of the firewall. It can also be used in the CSL location on the strut tower, however, it does not work with the factory bracket.
The new reservoir requires custom hose but includes the barbed fitting. It also includes a drain plug for regular fluid changes (tank must be removed). The cap does not include a dipstick like the factory but it's easy to unscrew and check the fluid level.
