Transmission Oil Cooler Line, Return - E60 & E63 V8 - 17227571039

This part is listed by BMW as BMW part number 17227571039 and is described as Transmission Oil Cooler Line, Return / Outlet side, as used on the E60 550i Sedan (V8), and E63/E64 650i automatic models. 

This oil line is a mixed hard / soft line that snakes its way from the automatic transmission cooler (a small aluminum cooler with added surface area to help cool the transmission fluid) and return to the transmission. These lines can get caked in with gummed up fluid over time and restrict the oil flow, leading to transmission overheating and shifting problems. It's very common to need to replace this oil line as well as the transmission cooler (which can also become plugged up.) Once fluid is flowing and able to cool better, it can often resolve shifting issues on the 550i and 650i V8 models.
