This part is listed by BMW as BMW part number 33411123973 (33 41 1 123 973) and is described as a Securing Lock Plate for the wheel bearing nut on E28, E34, E24, E23, and E32 models. This is the lock ring for the inner nut on the drive flange on the rear axle.
