This 140amp Bosch alternator can be used on all E36 6 cylinder including M3 (1995-1999, 3.0 & 3.2 liter), 1992-1995 E36 325i 325is, 1996-1998 E36 328i 328is 323is, 1991-1992 E34 525i, and 1998-2000 MZ3 M Roadster/Coupe. If your BMW came with the 80 amp alternator, this 140amp model can be used as an upgrade. It provides 50 more amps than the 80 amp compact model for cars with a higher electrical draw (such as cars with upgraded stereos.) If you are upgrading from a different sized alternator, you must use a 55mm alternator pulley. This alternator does not come with a pulley, so you must reuse your old one or purchase a 55mm pulley separately if your current alternator is not 55mm in diameter.
