On the E90/E92/E93 M3 V8, electrical and charging issues are not always a "bad alternator". The voltage regulator on your 2008-2013 M3 is located on the back of the alternator and it regulates the output voltage produced by the alternator. A bad voltage regulator can fail to charge the battery at a sufficient rate (slow drain) and it can also allow too much voltage to enter back into the rest of the electrical system where it may damage voltage-sensitive components. Rebuilt alternators will include a new, or tested and approved, voltage regulator. But if you believe the alternator is good, the regulator can be replaced on its own to avoid a bigger repair bill.

This voltage regulator is specifically for the M3 V8 (S65 4.0 liter) alternator as found on E90 M3 sedan, E92 M3 coupe and E93 M3 convertible in the 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013 model years. This voltage regulator is made by the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) for BMW, so you can be assured you are getting the latest design of the part at the highest quality available.

Please note: Electrical items are non-returnable. This is standard policy for all auto parts companies. If a new regulator does not fix your E9X M3 charging issue, it cannot be returned.
