Starter Motor (New), BMW - E9X M3

This an original BMW new starter motor fits E90/E92/E93 M3 Sedan, Coupe, and Convertible (2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013).  While there are other aftermarket rebuilds, this is a new factory assembly, the same as when the car was built. This starter is not rebuilt/remanufactured, so there is no core charge and no core return required.

Replaces, or is compatible with, the following BMW part numbers:
12417838020 (12-41-7-838-020)
12417843526 (12-41-7-843-526)
12417837775 (12-41-7-837-775)

During installation, you will be removing the intake manifold, fuel purge valve, idle control valve, and ICV hose.  This is a great time to inspect/replace any of these components.  See below for BimmerWorld Recommended Related Items.

This part is listed by BMW as BMW part number 12417843530 (12-41-7-843-530) and is described as Genuine BMW Starter Motor, S65.

12417843526 vs 12417843530 - In the past the difference between these two was a New (530) or Rebuilt (526) starter. But as of January 2024 BMW no longer labels them new or rebuilt. Neither one has a core charge as of now. BMW does not keep both in stock so we will advise you which part number is available, however, we cannot guarantee what you/we receive a rebuilt or new starter.
