Lower Valve Spring Seat, BMW - M42, M50, M52, M52TU, M54, M62

The valve spring seat can be replaced during a cylinder head rebuild on M42, M50, M52, M52TU, M54, and M62 engines. The seat does not takes as much stress as the upper retainer but it's still critical that you inspect the seats for wear, fracture, and thickness. A broken seat will cause valve failure and a shorter seat could lead to valve-piston contact as the valve dips too low into the combustion chamber.

Don't forget to replace the valve keepers above the retainer too!
