Timing Chain Tensioner Rebuild Kit - E30 M3

This kit includes all of the original pieces used to assemble the Timing Chain Tensioner on S14 engine for the E30 M3. If you're experiencing a rattle on a cold start, that goes away soon after or by revving the engine, the tensioner may be on its way out. The spring inside the tensioner is supposed to keep tension on the timing chain guides until oil pressure takes over. However, the spring wears out over time leaving enough slack for the chain to rattle or hit the guides. The piston itself can show wear and no longer seat against the guide rail. It's critical to assemble this tensioner properly to ensure the quietest operation.

The 95 M3 tensioner uses a stiffer spring and can be used as a direct replacement/upgrade, without the need to rebuild the tensioner or force the S14 spring into the housing.
