VANOS Central Valve, INA - F22, F3X, F10, X1/X3/X4/Z4 28i (N20/N26)

This part is listed by BMW as BMW part number 11367583820 (11 36 7 583 820) and is described as the OEM INA VANOS Control Valve for the intake or exhaust cam on N20 and N26 engines. This valve fits to F22 228i, F30 320i/328i, F32 428i, F10 528i, and X1/X3/X4/Z4 28i models. Fits either the intake or exhaust cam.

This is the oil supply valve that directs oil up into the Adjuster unit. The plunger from the solenoid pushes oil through this valve to activate the Adjuster unit. A failure in any part of this system will cause the camshaft to be fixed in one position, or may have a delayed reaction, affecting performance and drivability.

The N20 VANOS system is made up of several components, all of which could give you VANOS issues (power loss, rough running, poor fuel economy, slow starting, rattle noises, and check engine faults). This central valve works with the N20 actuator, adjuster unit, sensor wheel, and the oil system itself. There are multiple tests that can be run with advanced diagnostic equipment to determine which of the components is at fault.
