This is the OEM valve cover gasket set for 1999+ E39 540i, E38 740i, E53 X5 4.4/4.6is models with the M62TU engine. This set covers the valve cover on the driver side of the engine bay - bank 2, cylinders 5-8.

The valve cover is sealed to the cylinder head with these gaskets and they prevent oil from leaking out of the top of the engine. Oil leaks make the engine bay messy, rob the internals of precious lubrication, and could do damage to external sensors or hardware in the engine bay. Leaks can also affect the internal pressure and vacuum of the valve cover.

This is an OEM M62TU valve cover gasket set manufactured by Elring - one of the original suppliers to BMW for this part, as well as many other gaskets and seals. As the OEM it meets all of BMW's original design, fitment, and performance requirements and is TUV approved.
