This is an OEM Head Gasket Set for 1980-1983 E21 320i engines. This kit is essential for any engine or cylinder head rebuild on the M10 engine. A standard head gasket is included (1.5mm thickness). This is not an "all-inclusive" kit and will not include every gasket and seal that could be replaced. Additional parts such as head bolts, other hardware, non-critical gaskets, and sensors are sold separately (see below). This kit also includes some additional gaskets that may not apply to your particular year/model/equipment combination. You will likely have leftover parts.
Symptoms of head gasket failure include: white residue (tapioca) in the valve cover, under the oil filler cap, and in drained oil, low coolant (not caused by failure in cooling system), low oil, oil leak onto exhaust manifold, and loss of power from loss of compression. Cooling system trouble on the M10 must be addressed quickly as the aluminum head is easily damaged if overheating occurs.
This M10 head gasket set is manufactured by Elring Klinger - an original supplier to BMW for many gaskets and seals. As an OEM it meets all of BMW's original design, fitment, and performance requirements and is TUV approved. OEM parts are the best alternative to more expensive Original BMW parts because they are virtually identical without the inflated price tag. This part has a two year warranty.
