Mechanical Fuel Pump, Pierburg - 2002 (1973-1976) - CLEARANCE ITEM

CLEARANCE ITEM: This brand new fuel pump is missing the flat paper gasket that is normally included. 

This part is listed by BMW as BMW part number 13311257784 and is described as Mechanical Fuel Pump for 1973-1976 2002 models (not 2002tii). The mechanical fuel pumps are genius in their simplicity. If the engine is turning, the pump works. Wear on the cam inside the engine block will affect operation but little else can stop the pump from moving fuel. In many cases there is a clog in the fuel system and it just needs a good cleaning. Otherwise the failure is likely internal to the pump and a new replacement is called for. A new pump includes the engine block gasket (but not the isolator).

This is the same part number as the Genuine BMW pump but has a shorter neck and less clearance to the water pump hose that runs underneath. Some cars don't use the hose and this pump works fine. Other cars have the hose and the short pump and don't report any functional issues. For originality and ease of mind we also offer the Genuine BMW (see Related Items below).
