This is an authentic Genuine BMW charcoal fuel vapor canister filter, which features activated charcoal to help collect fuel vapors in the fuel system of many 4 cylinder turbo engines (N20) from 2012-2016.
This charcoal fuel canister is found on all non-SULEV (N20) powered F22 228i, F30 320i / 328i (N20), F31 328iT Wagon (N20), F34 328i GT, F32 428i Coupe, F33 428i Convertible, and F36 428i Gran Coupe models, as offered in the 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 model years.
This charcoal canister is tied to the emissions system, and an error with the evaporative fuel vapor system may indicate this vapor canister is not filtering and catching fuel vapors as it should. This part is known to fail, causing a check engine light and causing an emission failure.
For BMW 3 series and 4 series with the N20 engine. Not for cars with N26 SULEV engine.
