This important plastic baffling installs under the right side (passenger side, on US cars) fuel pump assembly inside the fuel tank. It's job is help prevent When servicing the fuel pump, it's possible to either break (or find it broken) which necessitate a replacement fuel pump baffle. Fortunately this part is replaceable separately and isn't too expensive for a Genuine BMW part.
