Porsche 993 HFM/Mass Air Sensor, Bremi - E36 M3, MZ3 S52 (OBD2)

This part is listed as Bosch part number 0280217803 (0 280 217 803) and is described as the larger 3.5" HFM for 1996-2000 E36 M3 and MZ3 S52. The original application for this part is a Porsche 993 911 (non Turbo) but the fitment and tuning makes it ideal for use in OBD-II E36 M3 and MZ3.

This larger HFM (MAF) is commonly used for tuning and increasing intake flow on S52 engines. It has a 3.5" diameter, as opposed to the stock US HFM (MAF) which has a 3.0" diameter. The larger HFM also has a greater resolution for reading airflow, which means fuel and timing corrections can be more precise.

Required: larger 3.5" air filter/intake, 3.5" throttle body boot, wiring harness adapter, OBD2 wiring harness and ECU, appropriate software tune, and many applications require higher flow fuel injectors.

This part is manufactured by an aftermarket supplier of European auto parts, including many electrical components. While not carrying OEM status, this part follows the design of the original very closely and uses similar materials. An aftermarket part may even have the same TUV approval as its OEM counterpart. The brand may even be OEM to another manufacturer besides BMW. This aftermarket brand has a two year warranty - the same as Genuine BMW and OEM brands.
