Pressure Hose Assembly, Rein - E82 128i, E9X 328i N51 SULEV

This part is listed by BMW as BMW part number 11727557910 and is described as Pressure Hose Assembly for the SAI system (secondary air injection system) for the N51 SULEV powered BMW models. This includes E82 128i SULEV, E90 328i SULEV sedan, E92 328i SULEV Coupe, and E93 328i SULEV Convertible. 

The N51 engine was the 6 cylinder 3.0 liter SULEV engine, used for cars sold in California and other states that followed CA emissions standards (such as NY, NJ, Mass, CT, Vermont, Maine, Maryland, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Washington state, and Washington DC). SULEV stands for “Super Ultra-Low Emissions Vehicle”, and this secondary air pressure hose is unique to that N51 engine. These models were offered in 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2013. 

When this hose fails, it will set a fault code and check engine light or iDrive message for a Secondary Air System Fault. (Perhaps a P0140A, P140A, or other code.) This hose is part of the EGR system (exhaust gas recirculation) and a crack or blown hose will cause emissions warnings and cause you to fail an emissions check. Fortunately the hose is very straight forward to replace and not very expensive, making it an ideal DIY fix. 

For N51 SULEV models only. Many of these cars traveled and sold in other states later, so be sure to check your car first. The SULEV designation is generally listed on the registration or title, as well as VIN panels on the car or under hood.
