When shopping for a new battery for your BMW F22 2-series, F30 3-series, or F32 4-series the best battery may be one size smaller than the huge factory battery. Our OPTIMA battery options for F22, F30, and F32 include the H7 DIN size, which is smaller than the original, which will save significant weight. Fitment also covers 2014-2018 F15 X5, 2015-2018 F85 X5M, 2015-2019 F16 X6, and 2015-2019 F86 X6M.
It can also be used on E36 models but the installation is very tight and not all batteries may work.
Use this bracket instead of the original BMW battery bracket and allow you to use a smaller battery in these cars. The new battery and bracket installs the same way as original, with added length to account for the shorter battery. The new bracket screws into the existing battery tray (hardware included).
“DIN” = Deutsches Institut fur Normung (German Institute for Standardization). It's a German weights and measures agency and BMW follows their sizing parameters for battery size and configuration. In the US we have the BCI Group (Battery Council International) to identify battery size and configuration. The standard BMW battery in the F22/F30/F32 range is an H8. The H8 aligns with a BCI Group 49 battery. If you're looking at an H7 battery for F22/F30/F32 it lines up with a Group 94R battery. We've tested this bracket with the H7 battery but not with a 94R battery.
