OEM control arms feature the same ball joint and rubber bushing design as original to produce the same ride and handling characteristics as when your car was new. The soft, rubber bushing naturally wears prematurely, causing sloppy steering, poor tire wear, and jolting or instability during braking. The ball joint in the arm can also become worn and cause bad handling and wear, so we always recommend checking it along with the bushing and lower control arm (track rod) when diagnosing issues.
