The front control arm is the key to the E36 front suspension. It's constantly in motion and carrying the load during cornering, braking, and over bumps. The inner and outer ball joints are what take the most abuse and should be inspected regularly. The steel control arm itself also takes punishment from regular stresses as well as impacts from foreign objects. It's imperative to change the control arms regularly - every 3-4 years for street cars and 1-2 years for track cars. The 1995 E36 M3 control arm is unique to that year and chassis.
