The BimmerWorld View - the original KW dampers fulfilled the need for a motorsport-capable damper for a spec class and a large production run. But we found while racing the M235iR in the US and Europe that it lacked some of the performance we were used to (with MCS). And servicing the KW dampers was not ideal as they lack a US-based service facility. If you're campaigning an M235iR/M240iR and dampers are "free" in your class you would be crazy not to upgrade to MCS - performance gain and US service is exactly what this platform needs to thrive in the US.

M235iR MCS features -
+ Double-adjustable damper with a unique adjuster for easy access and fast changes
+ Preserves rear coil over layout (including non-inverted orientation)
+ 60mm spring seats so no need to re-spring from original H&R (2.25" perches optional)
+ Includes adapters to keep KW camber plates and rear Clevis mounts
+ Large piston diameter - more fluid displacement gives better low speed damper control
+ Blow-off valve system manages high damper velocities for bumps, curbs, and landings after curbs
+ 14 distinct clicks of compression adjustment, 18 clicks of rebound - every click has a distinct new plot

The MCS 2WNR damper is the king of non-remote reservoir dampers - no other damper has the range of capability to do so much so well. These dampers are packed with technical features and offer a clean and elegant design. The monotube design has more oil capacity and better heat dissipation than twin tube dampers. Large strut shafts give extremely high, low-friction side-load support that is unmatched by other shocks that are inverted and converted for strut applications. The big main piston gives quick, accurate damper response, and the divider piston separates oil and gas, eliminating cavitation which often causes noise and sloppiness. MCS has not only managed to develop a damper kit that is more track-capable than the majority of aftermarket kits, but is not upset by bumpy track surfaces. This allows the optimum spring for track use without having to compensate for bumps.

Both rebound and compression are controlled by a blow-off valve directly on the main piston for the most precise and accurate damping control. Both settings are adjustable on one very clever knob, within easy reach under your hood or in your trunk. Adjustments are noticeable with a distinct curve to each setting - the clicks are there for a reason with a true engineered dyno plot for each one.

These are a bolt-in upgrade replacement for the original KW dampers on M235i Racing and M240i Racing. These dampers come with spring seats and hardware to adapt to the original KW camber plates and rear Clevis mounts. These are intended to re-use the existing 60mm H&R springs homologated with the M235iR/M240iR. Other 60mm can be run as well and you can switch to 2.25" springs by purchasing new perches. The rear shock must be run in a standard (non-inverted) orientation as with the original KW shock.
