If you are doing any work on the front struts/shocks or springs of a 2007-2018 BMW X5 or 2008-2019 BMW X6, you will likely want to replace any of the “while you are in there” hardware components. This front upper spring pad is one of those perfect items to refresh, perhaps as part of a suspension refresh or upper shock mount replacement. It installs between the top of the front spring and the  upper strut mount, and provides a rubberized cushions against vibration, noise, and harshness. 

Over time, the rubber material of the spring pad degrade, cracks, and eventually disintegrates completely. This can lead to noises (clanking, tapping, clicking, etc) in the front suspension. If you are already removing the front struts or strut mount, replacing the spring pad is incredibly easy. 

This is a Genuine BMW upper spring pad, specific to the 2nd and 3rd generation of BMW X5 (and 1st and 2nd generation of BMW X6).
