Front Hybrid Control Arm Bushings (FCAB), Powerflex - E46 M3
Hybrid alloy/urethane bushings give sharper steering and more precise handling with a lifetime warranty!. Replacement for BMW part #31122229857. Choose Street or Track bushings.
Powerflex Front Control Arm Bushings are the ideal replacement for the bushings on your E46 M3. These are a hybrid aluminum-urethane design. The specific choice of materials creates a low friction rotating bushing, reducing the forces acting on the arm. Control arm deflection has been decreased by reducing the compliant material within the aluminium shell. Results are less movement in the arm under cornering and braking, improving steering control and feel. Not only will these provide a noticeable improvement in steering performance, but they're guaranteed to last a lifetime!
Powerflex has extensive experience in automotive suspension and chassis systems and has combined these skills with advanced polyurethane manufacturing techniques. Bushing durometer (stiffness) has been carefully selected for specific uses:
Street Performance for slightly more sport and precision in daily driving environments. Urethane material for less deflection, more precise handling, and better steering response but while retaining some comfort for street use. No track or very little autocross. If you attempt to use these in competitive driving you will quickly be outclassed by others with true race equipment.
Track/Race-only is for dedicated track cars that are never intended to be driven on the street (you might throw a plate on it and run to the store). Basically, if your car has racing harnesses instead of seat belts. These will be the stiffest urethane or Delrin for near-zero deflection and extremely precise alignment settings. NVH and comfort is not a factor in the engineering of these bushings. Our preference is for Delrin over Black urethane for track use.
Note: Powerflex copper-based grease is supplied with every bushing set, and they will rarely need re-lubing due to the unique design features built into the material to hold the lubricant.
These bushings fit in control arm brackets with a 66mm inside diameter. Nearly all E46s have the 66mm bracket but some very early 323i/328i cars were originally equipped with a 60mm bracket.
