Front Left Upper Thrust Rod, OEM - E28, E24

NOTE: it appears this arm has been discontinued by all of the OEM suppliers. As of now (August 2021) BMW still offers Genuine thrust arms but at a premium price. If you only need to replace the inner bushings we strongly recommend Powerflex urethane (see Related Items below). The Thrust Rod (upper control arm) on your E24 6-Series or E28 5-Series incorporates a large, soft bushing that is designed to remove all vibration normally transmitted through the steering system while still doing a decent job at controlling loads from the tire.

Please note: This upper control arm is for all 1982-1988 5 series, and 6 series from 1983 through 1989. Not for 6 series before the 1983 model year.

The soft, rubber bushing naturally wears prematurely, causing sloppy steering, poor tire wear, and jolting or instability during braking. The ball joint in the arm can also become worn and cause bad handling and wear, so we always recommend checking it along with the bushing and lower control arm (track rod) when diagnosing issues.

This is an OEM thrust rod manufactured by Lemforder - the original supplier to BMW for this part, as well as many other suspension components. As the OEM it meets all of BMW's original design, fitment, and performance requirements and is TUV approved. OEM parts are the best alternative to more expensive Original BMW parts because they are virtually identical without the inflated price tag. This part has a two year warranty.
