Worn or damaged intake boots on your BMW can cause a number of drivability and running issues: stalling, rough idle, and throttle stumbling are a few. A rip or crack in the rubber boot will allow extra, unexpected air into the engine, which upsets the air:fuel ratio. Since the intake boot is located after the airflow meter, it's often called unmetered air. These air intake leaks will often plague BMW owners but the fix is usually quite easy and inexpensive.
