The BimmerWorld View - And you thought these were just cameras! Now on Version 3 with a ton of new features, AiM continues to lead the pack with video and data integration that is unbeatable. SmartyCam 3 has been designed for motorsports with a single purpose: to provide great video and technical information in a single file that you can download for review or export into a thrilling video. The picture quality is excellent, the data is held internally, the overlays are very configurable, and it's now more user-friendly than ever!

The AiM SmartyCam 3 GP adds a single bullet cam to your video-data experience. SmartyCams bridge the gap between high-resolution video and on-screen data in one revolutionary package designed specifically for motorsports. From its conception, the goal with SmartyCam was to create a truly visual data tool that would provide stunning video quality with integrated on-screen feedback to ultimately make you go faster on the racetrack. Racing deserves a better video and data solution, and SmartyCam is the answer.

AiM produces bullet cams in single GP or Dual GP kits. They vary slightly but both include data logging and advanced integration with your car. Besides one camera versus two the biggest difference is in the integration with other AiM products and the vehicle itself. The single GP has a standard Binder 7-pin connector that can tap into your existing vehicle CAN data, other AiM devices, and power. The Dual GP has a more sophisticated and durable motorsport connector that must also be tapped into your existing vehicle CAN data, other AiM devices, and power.

Video Quality & Technology
A quantum leap in video, SmartyCam is the first to offer a global shutter CMOS imager for motorsport applications. Traditional cameras use a rolling shutter to capture video, which causes wave and vibrations in the output. A global shutter exposes the entire image simultaneously, not one line at a time. This provides a clear picture and brilliantly sharp race footage.

AiM came up with an exclusive seven-element optics package so that your race footage, day or night, looks brighter and sharper than ever before. To be sure your video plays back exactly the way you saw it on track, a hybrid infrared filter keeps clarity-robbing light out for more accurate, uniform colors.

SmartyCam has a built-in three-axis accelerometer to instantly and automatically bring the system to life, tells it when to start and stop, and even when to power down to conserve battery life*. The internal memory even has tracks saved so it will automatically recognize the track you're on.

AiM came up with pioneering video and data stream management firmware. Through better programming, they were able to make files smaller. Generic HD cameras are focused on the highest pixels number, resulting in files that are far too large and take up too much memory. SmartyCam 3 videos have the same quality as other FHD cameras but their files are smaller because the H.264 compression system parameters have been optimized to perfectly balance video quality and file size.

The GP has an internal mic that is ready to use or configure. An external mic can also be wired but requires a different Deutsch connector harness. If you plan to run an external mic from the start, inquire with us about a kit that includes the external mic harness instead of the standard harness.

Data. And more Data.
The GP Dual has a Deutsch connector combined with the usual AiM Binder 5-pin expansion plug. Five leads on the Deutsch harness gives you a huge array of options for data and display. The GP camera can function as its own datalogger when used with a MicroSD card. Typical connections include a GPS antenna module, external data hub, race dash or SOLO unit, ECU connection, and power. You can run as much data to the camera as your SD card will hold. An amazing amount of data can be accessed right from the vehicle's own CAN data stream, simplifying your wiring. The GP also has a USB-C connection to connect directly to a PC or laptop for data and video download.

The data output onscreen can be configured with AiM's own camera software. Choose as much or as little data to display and in a layout of your preference. Add logos, a track map, or other icons. It's fully customizable for your needs.

AiM software is not just for managing your video files. Included with your camera is their awesome and powerful RaceStudio software that interprets your data and displays it visually for analysis. Overlay lap data and align with throttle, brake, power, or any other parameter you have configured. Sync the data with your video for total immersion in your performance.

What's in the box: GP camera unit, 2 x 24mm bullet camera (2m cable), Motorsport-grade Deutsch connector and harness (open leads, 0.5m length) with 0.5m Binder 712 cable, battery charger cable

Suggested accessories: MicroSD card (up to 2TB), GPS antenna module, data hub, bullet cam bracket.
(additional Deutsch harnesses are also available with an Ethernet port or with an external microphone jack)

Bottom Cable Connections: video output (coax SMA), 2 x camera input (coax SMA), 22-pin Deutsch connector, USB-C
Note: the Deutsch connector is more commonly found on AiM dash kits and wired with buttons to control various functions. The connector has 22 pins but only 10 leads. It is overkill for use as a camera harness but the Deutsch connector and wiring is built for extreme duty and environments where a traditional Binder connector may not be secure or durable enough.
